My name is Amy and to look after my mental health I spend time with my friends and family, do Bikram yoga, read loads and try and play the piano as much as I can. I also like to visit new places.
What Job Do I Do?
Youth Participation Worker
Where Do I Work?
I work from Mind Jerseys town office on Beresford street and from Mind Jerseys office at the Bridge. I also meet with young people at schools, youth club, residential settings and various other places.
When might you work with me?
I support young people with their mental health who are aged 7-25 and anyone can contact me directly via email or by phone. I also work with our Youthful Minds volunteers to tackle the stigma surrounding mental illness and to improve mental health services in Jersey.
What does a typical day look like in my job?
I do lots of different type of work with young people, so I don’t really have a typical day. I run a youth participation group once a week, offer one to one support, help to run group programmes and meet with other professionals who are working within the mental health setting.
What do I like most about my job?
The main thing I most enjoy about my job is seeing the young people I work with overcome their difficulties, see their confidence grow and support them with helping themselves feel better.
