Are you passionate and knowledgeable about supporting children and young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties? Mind Jersey are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity to join our innovative and supportive Child and Young person’s team. This role will focus on providing support to CYP aged between 7-25, and their families, through a variety of ways. This exciting role will also facilitate a young person’s participation group with an aim to reduce stigma associated with mental health and mental illness.

Position: Child and Young Persons Mental Health Practitioner and Youth Participation Worker

Reporting To: CYP Manager

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Salary: £41,885.48 per annum

Job Description:

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Child and Young Persons Mental Health Practitioner and Youth Participation Worker at Mind Jersey. In this role, you will be responsible for providing vital support to children and young people aged 7-25 who are experiencing mental health difficulties. You will deliver groupwork, 1-2-1 interventions, and educational support, as well as facilitate the Youthful Minds Participation group to improve mental health services and reduce stigma associated with mental health in Jersey.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide 1-2-1 support through Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) to help children and young people develop coping strategies and manage distressing emotions.

- Facilitate the Youthful Minds Participation Group, empowering young volunteers to advocate for better mental health services and tackle stigma.

- Build positive relationships with children, young people, families, and key stakeholders, promoting mental health awareness and reducing inequalities.

- Monitor participant progress, maintain confidentiality, and comply with safeguarding policies and procedures.

- Stay updated on mental health developments, attend relevant training, and represent Mind Jersey at events focusing on children and young people.


- Qualifications in health and social care, counselling skills, and evidence of teaching experience.

- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.

- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, confidentiality, and risk management.

- A flexible, non-judgemental approach, excellent organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.

- Clean driving license and access to own transport required.
