Mind Jersey are pleased to announce that over £54,000 has been raised for the Youthful Minds initiative thanks to the efforts of RBC Wealth Management’s employees. RBC selected Youthful Minds as its 2019 charity of the year raising money through a variety of fundraising activities, including the hugely successful RBC Race for the Kids.
Youthful Minds is a voluntary group led by young people which aims to tackle the stigma and misunderstanding surrounding mental health illnesses. The money will be used by to fund a number of initiatives. The charity hopes to partner with local film/video production company, The Observatory, and local drama production company, Love Theatre, to commission productions relating to children and young people with a focus on the Youthful Minds group in particular. Mind Jersey is also planning to use the money raised to extend the contracts of the part-time youth participation worker, develop Wellness Toolboxes, produce educational materials and train new Youthful Minds recruits as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA).
David Bailey, COO at RBC Wealth Management, added: “RBC is committed to supporting important causes on the island and we are delighted that our employee fundraising will help Mind Jersey to continue its vital work with Jersey’s young people, through the Youthful Minds group.”
James Le Feuvre, Executive Director of Mind Jersey, said: “We are incredibly grateful to RBC for its efforts in raising this sum for our charity. The money raised will ensure that we are able to continue to provide the very best support for the children and young people of Jersey.”
This year’s RBC Race for the Kids Jersey will take place in the autumn and Islanders will once again be invited to participate in the 2.5km or 5km route to support youth mental health in a meaningful way.
