Mind Jersey has instructors that have undertaken, and deliver, Mental Health First Aid England’s (“MHFA England”) courses. MHFA England training provides individuals with the tools to act as an initial support for others who may be in a mental health crisis situation or developing a mental health problem.
MHFA England training is a comprehensively research-based approach that was first developed in Australia in 2001.
The MHFA England course will help you to recognise the symptoms of mental health problems, provide early assistance and inform an individual about appropriate professional help.
Those working/volunteering in the public, private or third sector, and those living with/caring for someone experiencing mental distress, will benefit and learn how to support individuals with mental health difficulties. The course is open to everyone.
Positive steps to improve the management of mental health in the workplace, including prevention and early identification of problems, could result in cost saving of 30%.
In an organisation with 1000 employees this is equivalent to cost savings of £250,607 per annum (NIACE guidelines, November 2009).
Mental Health First Aid England’s training was first delivered in Australia in 2001 and is licenced for delivery in 25 countries around the world. MHFA England is the sole licensed provider of Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training programme in England, the content of which is underpinned by over 15 years of robust evaluation and research and accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health. It is through this evidence base, accreditation and evaluation that our training has built its reputation as a robust, quality assured product, which is safe in its delivery and outcomes.
The price and length of MHFA England training is reflective of its quality and safety and so we cannot vouch for other training products being offered which may be shorter and cheaper but claiming the same learning outcomes. It is only instructors who have trained on the MHFA England Instructor Training programme who would have access to the accredited manuals and licenced course delivery kit. We would therefore encourage anyone considering booking onto an Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training programme to look carefully into the quality assurance and evidence base underpinning the course content to ensure it meets the high standards associated with MHFA England training.
